Provincial Parks

South River is a neighbour to 2 provincial parks with Mikisew Provincial Park 12 kilometers to the west and a paddling entrance to the world renowned Algonquin Park only 20 kilometers to the east.

Mikisew offers sandy beaches on beautiful Eagle Lake.  Nearby trails provide opportunity for hiking and are part of the Forgotten Trails.

Paddling and fishing enthusiasts can appreciate the multitude of options in the backcountry of Algonquin.  Private outfitters located near this access point can equip you or even guide you through your Algonquin experience. A different type of Algonquin experience can be found along the Highway 60 corridor with an assortment of campgrounds, trails, museum and more.

Visit the Ontario Parks website for more information about Mikisew Provincial Park and Algonquin Backcountry Camping.  Additional information about Algonquin park can be found on the official site for Friends of Algonquin Park.
